MIDDLE SCHOOL ADVISOR
MAYA COMFORT
Hello, I’m Maya! My journey with Breakthrough Twin Cities began in 2019 when I served as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow, but my passion for working with youth started much earlier. In high school, I worked as a summer band counselor and mentored students in the special education department, which fueled my commitment to supporting students.
This passion continued throughout my college years, including a period studying in Seoul, South Korea, where I served as an English tutor for students. I earned my BA in Sociology and Global Studies from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, I joined Breakthrough as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow, eventually advancing to a supervisory role at MN Alliance With Youth.
Most recently, I earned a Master’s Degree in Education and Community Development from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. I’m overjoyed to be rejoining the BTC team as an Academic Advisor, and I’m excited to continue supporting students in their academic and personal growth.
In my spare time, I love watching movies, going to concerts, spending time with my cats, and traveling.
